A couple years ago, we went on a trip where I knew there’d be much time hanging, chatting and being social with family. All great things.
It’s just hard sometimes to hang without something to do. Yes, there were games involved, but I had been wanting to try knitting and thought this was a perfect opportunity. Participate, productive, nice!
And it was.
Recently, with the waiting and stress and craziness, I found myself reaching for my needles again.
Knitting is something that you have to do for a bit to be good enough to do anything that looks good. Not 10,000 hours, but you get the picture. Just my opinion. Since I’m not good at sitting… either moving or asleep, knitting fills that down time… you know when hiding your head in a book might be frowned upon.
So I went through my dish cloth period. Playing with patterns and success/fails until I reached the point (again) where my knitting was OK.
Recently we’ve entered my hat period. It’s funny how a couple hours in front of the tv or waiting can be productive. Who knew?
For now, I’ll attire everyone in hats before moving on to cowls. A couple nice patterns have found their way into my browser window.
Knitting bug ever bitten?
