A funny thing happened after the marathon… We ran into Kevin!
Here’s the back story. (BTW Some of you have heard the back story, I love it so do share ’cause, well, it’s a cool story.)
Every runner has a story about her running shoes. Why a particular brand & style? Here’s my short story of how I got hooked on Brooks…
Moving Eldest into the dorm freshman year was a… difficult… experience. His school of choice was on the other side of the state, he was being dropped off early so he could run (an empty campus in the Bronx), and you know… he’s the first. #hardestmomday
We were lucky to meet some other running families that day and at Parent’s Weekend. Our life went from cheering at every meet to… much less. It’s that empty nest, right? Very hard. There was some amount of comfort in meeting families in similar situations. One was also from far enough that being there was… challenging. I felt instantly connected.
Fast forward to graduation. One of Eldest’s running brothers, Kevin (with a far away family), was headed to Brooks Running. Whoo hoot! Always awesome to see someone being paid to do/share/etc what they love!
I had been a die hard New Balance girl… Forever… With my silly wide feet, they always came through.
But… it was time for a change. What better way to support Eldest, than to support his friends? Definitely!
So… headed out for my first pair of Brooks… to our Fleet Feet where I could get fitted and find the right style for my crazy feet.
Now, I’ve been through a couple styles as I started running more and had some foot issues earlier this year.
Brooks are my go to. They’ve worked with me through two foot rehabs… Thank You!
I’m a Brooks girl (OK… lady) now and haven’t looked back.
Kevin (Eldest too) never knew… because he’s not at the fantastic WNY post-parties where we chat about things like running shoes. It’s a fun story. Everyone has a story of what brought them to their steady running partner.
After the NY Marathon, we ran into Kevin on one of our stops. Over a cold beer, got to finally share my Brooks story with him.
Nice, very nice. Thank you Kevin for introducing me to Brooks.
How did you find your steady running partner?
