We live in Western New York. December to mid March it’s some degree of cold and snowy.
That’s why we ski. You either embrace it or complain through it. Far better to go positive… right?
So we ski… and skate and do whatever it is to make the winter fun.
This year is harder.
But why?
Maybe it’s because you can dress through cold but inches & feet of snowy white presents different issues. And this winter has brought more white than usual.
Running outside… for me… isn’t as easy with crazy drifts and snow piles. I’ve seen lots of runners trudging through it, but I’ll stick to the treadmill. Thank you very much.
What am I doing to regain my waning motivation through the tails of this white winter?
- Keep to my routine. Especially on those days you’d rather virtually “roll over.” Create a routine and stick to it. Yes, especially on those days you’d rather not.
- Take my vitamins. A handful of vitamins were my routine every day. A couple years ago, I pulled back. Eating more of my vitamins became the plan. It seems to be working, with the help of supporting green juice. In the winter I’m Vitamin D deficient. Taking a supplement helps me to feel better through the hibernation of winter.
- Visit my local tanning booth. I know, I know… tanning is bad, bad, bad! For me tanning is sanity, sanity, sanity. Laugh or rage if you must. I tan for 3-4 minutes. Never longer.
- Keep reminding yourself Spring will bloom soon. Or this too will pass…
This year, I got out of my routine, stopped taking my vitamins and didn’t tan. Brother… why change what isn’t broken? Right?
Well… I was busy.
I know, I know. So… motivation is in the gutter and it’s time to get it back!
What’s your winter plan?
