A few years ago starting a run that I knew crossing the finish wouldn’t happen was not an option.
Today, running stronger and faster with each start is the goal. The reality is that life happens and injuries happen and sometimes starting is more important than crossing that finish line.
This year the Shamrock was one of those runs. Off to a good start but the 8K was just more than training had me. More important to get off on the right foot.. haha see what I did there? Foot felt good, so a win. Actually the issue was my shins – too much treadmill and no outside time in too long. Oops…
It’s OK.
The weather was around freezing, with just a slight breeze and the sun peeking in and out. Perfect for an early March run. We felt the west side of a nor’easter on Friday but the street crews did a great job of clearing the snow. Streets and overpasses (oh those crazy overpasses) were either snowy or dry. Nice, very nice.
Buffalo is the place to be these days. We hit our usual Gene McCarthy’s for corned beef and a beer afterward and added a new stop at the Barrel Factory. Next year there will be another with Resurgence starting a spot around the corner. Go Buffalo Go!
It’s always such a fun day!
