Strengthening my feet for running is becoming an issue for me as distance increases.
While searching the web for advice, it looks like I’m not alone. Actually one of the marathon runners I checked with after setting this goal advised me to be sure I get my feet in shape. Nothing else, that was it.
Take care of your feet.
I have a history of bad feet. We have a hereditary skin condition that (with wearing shoes and living through the resultant sweaty toes) peels on my feet. It also causes calluses on my feet. The other side of the family had bunions. Of course, the skin wasn’t enough… I also have the bunions. But here’s the thing… everyone has something. I’m thankful this is my thing. It could be much worst. The issue is how to manage it. Because the bunions make heels incredibly uncomfortable, I never developed those great feet muscles from wearing the multitude of different shoes.
Now it’s time to get those feet muscles in shape.
I found this exercise that looks like it’s more for stability, including your feet.

Last night after my run & this morning, my feet were so sore from running & wearing my fantastic new shoes to the party Saturday night. It was an ibuprofen morning. I’ll get started and let you know how it works out. (this post was originally written 1/12)
