Getting back to the routine, any routine, is comforting. Ha, bet you thought it was going to be something weather related….. nope!
Change, by definition, is uncomfortable.
This year, I’m trying to make some tweaks to the routine. Are you? Hard isn’t the right word to describe it. It isn’t hard, just uncomfortable. Yes, that works.
Thankfully, the discomfort is short lived! You can endure most things for a short amount of time. After giving birth to two sons, a little discomfort is nothing, really. I’ve found making small tweaks, not step changes is the key. For me, making major changes in a short amount of time is beyond hard (unless there is a driving reason). Sure you can do it, for me… I’ll go back to the childbirth analogy… there better be something amazing on the other side… (or a compelling reason).
The hardest part I find is building changes into the day and keeping with it. Honestly, some days I just forget. Darn that autopilot!
Even with the tweaks & forgetting, I’m thankful for the routine. It helps to fill the day with productive, positive actions and to filter out the chaff. I’m working on more of the chaff. Do you find it can be hard not to get caught in the chaff somedays? I sure do. Training helps. Actually, just being busy helps. There’s less room for the chaff to fill. 🙂
Here’s to getting back to a slightly different routine!
What are you thankful for this fine Friday!
