TGIF! I’m so glad to get to Friday this week. Being careful to not wish days away, it’s because it gets me one step closer to a healed foot.
So this particular Friday, I’m thankful for healing.
That makes sense, right? But probably not for the reason you may think! Ha, tricked you!
I’ve talked (or written) a little about routines in this blog. There are some fancy words and psychology theories about this but let’s just sum it up like this… while I’m thankful for the healing (of course, right?) I’m thankful for the spark that comes from changing my routine and the time to listen to what it means to me.
The change in my routine that lets me think about different things, see things in a new light and consider new ideas. Little did I know when I started the post on Perspective earlier this week, that it would be my gift this week. Honestly, I started that post last week.
Now you know why I love to travel. Change it up. Put your head in a different place so it can do the heavy lifting to some new ideas.
I’m hopeful that my foot will heal quickly and running will be front and center again soon. In the mean time, thanks for the healing time to change things up enough to let my brain just run. That probably sounds funny.
The past couple days, while my body is focusing on healing my foot, my brain is just running. Change does that for me. Different possibilities, different ideas. It’s probably why I love change! OK, I do have the attention span of a fruit fly. Not a bad trait. (Mostly because I really can focus when I need to.) Healing provides the opportunity to slow down and listen to where my brain is running.
Laugh… I used to try out different routes to get to and from work when I needed a spark. Any change to keep the spark. My life requires a spark, don’t we all?
First the change and then the opportunity to see things in a new & different light; to change and listen. That’s where the spark starts.
Back to the point. I’m thankful for healing. Instead of moping, I’m using it.
What are you thankful for this Friday?
