It probably sounds corny, but today I’m thankful for ability and potential. That I can move my body and use my brain. Those abilities give me the potential to do just about anything.
I said corny…
But really… Between living our life every day, sometimes we loose track of our abilities. And then we loose track of our potential.
Not the things we’re doing, the raw ability and potential we have.
OK, maybe you don’t, but… There are days (weeks and maybe more) when I shelve my ability and potential for the day-to-day.
Watching the US Paralympic Hockey Team winning a second consecutive Gold Medal a couple weeks ago got me pondering.
I have all my body parts and a (mostly :)) clear, sharp mind. I can do just about anything… yes, especially at 49.
It’s easy to get lost in day-to-day life. The daily bumps of living, working, eating, relating.
So I try to ask myself…
What are your big rocks? What is that crazy thing you’ve been wanting to do? That thing people may criticize you for, may think you’re a little off your rocker for trying or doing?
You live once… What’s the first step to put you on that path?
When you consider your ability and potential. When you put those bumps of daily life in their place.
What is that one thing that you’ve always wanted to do? I only you had more money, time or ability?
The reality is… You never will, so start now.
What’s holding you back?
As I resume training and building strength to get to this crazy goal of running 13.1 miles on September 20…
I’m thankful this week for ability and potential.
TGIF, What are you thankful for today?
