Summer’s in full swing and that means everyone’s trying get all the outside work crossed off their list. Road construction, around the house… everyone’s in on the game.
Working from home, the neighborhood sounds are my background. Noisy is how it goes some days.
We finally hit up Buckhorn State Park for a paddle. All this noise has me wishing I was right back in the peace.
Buckhorn is a smallish State Park just around the corner. I was impressed with the quiet, peace and nature so close to home. Here’s some pics so you can feel it too…
They’ve put in many nice v-launches in our area but Buckhorn hasn’t made the list. No matter, the launch was easy and dry. Just the way we like it. It was about 2 1/2 hours on the water. They dredged some areas of Buckhorn which created nice routes to follow. The wildlife was taking full advantage of the beautiful day. Buckhorn is rich with water fowl. Herons are just majestic in their movements. Nature can be humbling.
I’d like to go back this fall to see what grows over the summer; spring paddles sometimes aren’t possible in the fall.
If you’re a fan of Grass Island, it’s a short paddle.
Today I’m thankful for the quiet and wishing myself back on the cool, peaceful waters of Buckhorn.
TGIF!
