Life is hard to understand some days, weeks, months… This Friday, and every Friday, I’m thankful for today.
Sometimes we roll right through life, it’s easy and smooth. Like that speed boat skimming just above the top of the water.
Other times, life is messy and difficult and maybe complex. Sometimes it hurts.
It is what it is.
I think the loss of Robin Williams has everyone thinking. I hope so.
You’ve heard it, maybe you’ve said it. Commenting about how “blessed” someone else’s life is.
The material things, the job, the success. It all looks golden from your perspective.
But you never know until you’ve walked in someone’s shoes. Not their wife’s or husband’s, not their kid’s or friend’s shoes. Some people won’t show their cards until it’s too late. Some people can’t.
Failure is defined differently for each of us.
What may be a hangnail to one is life-threatening to another.
The thing is… you never quite know, because some people won’t show you their messy, difficult and complex. They won’t say when it hurts.
Robin Williams’ life looked golden from 50,000ft. Yes, even with the substance abuse and divorces.
But we didn’t walk in his shoes. We didn’t live in his head. We didn’t experience his hangnails or life-threatening.
If you just can’t climb out of the barrel, reach out. It’s not failure, it is what it is and there’s help. Life is not perfect, will never be perfect.
We each have failures, yup even (especially) the people who don’t or won’t talk about it.
Tomorrow will be better.
Be gentle, have fun, work hard, don’t let the craziness get you down.
RIP Robin.
