Thursday Update

Fireworks

The combination of July 4th holiday and having both guys here has it impossible to lose weight. OK, I’m being a little extreme, but you get the idea.

Exercise

Porter & I are on the same page and actually running together sometimes. Usually we run different distances and meetup for the cool-down. So it’s more fun. Always better to have a buddy working the goal with you, how much better to have that be your partner, friend, your love. Love it. We’re pretty competitive and are keeping it fun. The goal is to keep injury free and keep moving forward. We’re committed to losing some weight, getting & staying fit. That simple.

We have been running, missed a couple days but not being too tough on ourselves. Life happens so not beating myself up about it… overall think it’s going OK. Did another long run last Sunday – 4 mi. Short run on Sun, missed Tuesday. Had an appt in the am, then family dinner out got in the way. Caught up with little over 3 yesterday then some swimming.

We’re looking for our next goal – a 10K in the fall.

Eating

This is where all bets are off! Seriously! We eat at home most of the time. Recently we’ve found a couple spots that we love. We’re still both learning how to make healthy choices at these places. Haven’t quite made it yet… It’s hard to know what’s a good choice. A couple weeks ago we were pretty proud of the vege pizza choice at a local brew pub. That bubble was burst when I checked the calories/fat/carbs… who knew the pepperoni pizza would have been a better choice?? Now we check when we can.

Last week I read a tip that has your server splitting your meal in half before it arrives, bringing the doggie bag w/the plate. We talked about trying that next time. I’ll let you know how it goes.

We’ve started cutting carbs. That actually seems to be working. The down side is tough for a home brewer… cutting out the beer for porter. I think my addiction to bread will be easier…

Results

After weighing myself almost daily for about a month, the waffling has me a little crazy. The good news is that the general trend is down so will just keep trying to make good choices while living a life. Nothing crazy or extreme, life changes that we can live with. An occasional dessert won’t hurt, daily probably won’t work!

Down to 156 this am.

Hope you’re getting where you need to be.
