Well, it looks like this foot issue will take a little more work. Training resumed about two weeks ago. I’ve been trying to do my PT exercises and the rest of my new routine along with running. Yesterday I did too much. After my yoga fail on Saturday, my pondering resulted in the idea that I don’t get enough steps in my day. The plan was to walk each day for 30 minutes – on top of the rest of it.
Walking for 30 minutes ends up being about 1 3/4 miles. At the end of my morning walk, I felt my foot but didn’t think too much about it. Then we ran a nice, very slow 3.2 in prep for the run on Saturday. I felt the tightness on the top of my foot, little on the arch. So iced and took a little naproxin sodium(Aleve). Then, to celebrate we went out to brunch and (of course) walked a couple miles down Elmwood (in sandals).
OK, it was a data point. What more should I say. Right, not the smartest sequence of choices. OK, now I know.
I’ll do another post on the foot problem… but it’s textbook Posterior Tibial Tendonitis. Well, I can say that now. After a doc appt and PT. Think I tapered my PT too soon. Well I was doing other things… and the foot was OK… and there are only so many hours in a day…
Excuses, excuses…
Progress this Week
Mapmyrun.com is a free (they have a paid version) exercise tracking app that I’ve been using on & off for about a year. I started using it again. I’ll play with using it to show weekly stats.
Day | Distance | Description |
Tues | 2 mi | Treadmill 5 min walk/2 mi 5/5 min walk |
Thursday | 2.5 mi | Treadmill 5 min walk/2.5 mi 5/5min walk |

An easy 2 miles on the treadmill at 5. Felt fine.
Thursday
Another slow & easy 2.5 miles on the treadmill at 5.
Sunday
After walking then running then walking again, it was just too much. The run was nice and easy with Porter. Felt good, some tightness which caused me to stop just before our mailbox. It felt so good to be outside in the sun and running. One of my challenges is that 9-10 minute miles is a comfortable place for me. It’s hard to slow down. Running with Porter and tracking milestones had me in a good place. Think I needed more support while walking that last couple miles. May have been the push…
Today was going to start with a walk. After the pain last night, today has me popping a couple Aleves & PT exercises at lunch. Frustrating but just need to work through it! 🙂 I’ll get there with time and patience.
It may be a slow 5K on Saturday… 🙂
How is your training going?
