This week was another down week. This is not the plan. Since I wasn’t sure what was up, I was erring on the side of caution… hoping that not running was the ticket.
Tried to run Thursday to prep for SnowBall Run 5K yesterday. No pain to start, then just before 1 mile, it started. Since it started, I stopped. Same as the previous Saturday… pain in the foot after stopping. Did a little icing.
Walked a mile Saturday… ran for about 20 feet and stopped… followed the first 3/4 of a mile of the run and then headed back around the block to cheer Porter on to his finish. He had a great run.
Since my heel is clicking, which I don’t remember ever hearing before the Saturday incident, it’s time to make sure it’s nothing more. No pain walking, no pain skiing, started doing some plantar fasciitis exercises… no pain. Will get an x-ray to be sure nothing more and head to PT to get some exercises.
Give me a computer and I can figure most things out. I’ve learned more about the muscles, tendons, bones, etc that make up the foot in the past two weeks. I had started the balance exercises the week before this injury… it is the only change in my routine. This may be as innocuous as injuring a small “balance” muscle that was starting to get stronger. Or maybe I was trying to do too much too fast and have a stress fracture.
Really, it’s not as if I’m training for hours a day, every day…
No more “what if,” time to get this fixed… Today at 2:15!
Recovery here I come… Here’s hoping for a meatier training update next Monday!
