Another low mileage week last week. Wanted to give my left back/leg/need A&P class a chance to mend. Resumed my squat/lunge/planks to keep strengthening.

The mode right now is getting through the next 6 weeks without injury. When my yoga-pigeon injury continued, it seemed like a good time to switch things up a bit to give my body time to heal. This is a legacy injury and really is just a minor nuisance. Good news is, yes-even with the long run, it seems better.
Ashtanga yoga on Wednesday felt good.
Thursday run was good. It was a cooler day, which made an afternoon run easier. I love this weather and actually, a couple degrees cooler is my absolute favorite. 65-70 works in my book for just about everything. It gives you a good sweat on a run… I love a good sweat. And makes most other outside activities (except beach-going) doable.
Saturday, I went with my gut. Porter got up and did a 10 miler before heading out for the afternoon. Not sure why, but I’ve learned to go with it. We didn’t have anything on for Sunday morning so cleaned the house instead and ran Sunday.
Changed my route on Sunday. Split the run up so I could stop at home after 6 to gu, potty, whatever. Had a pile of stuff on the island in case I needed anything. Grabbed a bottle of water and headed back out. Overall it was a good run. Not my favorite route but it worked. The first two miles or so were tight but then it was just about enjoying the day and the road. A good run. It was cooler again – about 70, and sunny. It was just about a perfect run day. At mile 8 was trying some math for my turnaround point. Math after running 8 miles… may not be the best idea. I was 1/4 mile off so 11 miles showed up before I expected. The good news on that is I could have kept going, the reality is… I stopped. It was where I had dropped my water so hydrated and walked the mile home. Made sure to stretch and ice… then hot tub and eat. I was so hungry. Forgot to eat before my run. Oops, a slice of peanut butter toast works well before a run… next time!
Tried two different flavor of gu yesterday. One before when I realized no breakfast and one at the 6 mile mark. Not sure if it helped, but it was a good run and didn’t seem to bother my tummy. Win-win!
Three more long runs before the Mighty Niagara. Just staying healthy and getting stronger.
