Training Update

This past week was a busy hard one. My Friday rant is a pretty good indication that it was a long, hot, tired, sore week. We all have them every now & then. This was ours mine. Just two months to go and we’re working the plan (OK, with some changes :)).

It was an OK training week. Really felt spent and it was a busy work week so just running. A good week to take it a little easy and get my mojo back.

Yesterday had me bummed, no kayaking. We had thunderstorms so steered clear of the water. It was a much needed down day. We so needed it. Much better this morning.

As I said, this past week was a tough one. Not sure why other than we were just tired. Both of us together… the absolute worst. It’s OK to have one of us cranky, tired and miserable… Both is unusual and, well, hard to rise above :).

Thankfully we’re over that hurdle. Yesterday (or today depending on the calendar :)) starts a better week. And it is… we both feel better, refreshed, energized.

The long run Saturday was harder actually running than last week (still @ 8mi) but felt better after… last week Sunday and Monday were painful. This week the run was harder, just a touch faster, but my legs felt tired at 5 miles. Run/walking helps me to overcome that discomfort. It’s much easier to get to the next walk vs getting to done! Run/walking makes it easier for my head to run.

This long run also introduced me to the concept of chaffing… yuck. See my post earlier today on that.

So glad for this week. Will go back to a Yoga class this week. Yoga is a requirement for my happy body. Time to get some assistance with a couple poses I’m having a hard time with. Also, summer has changed our routine. We had worked into a routine where I could close the day with some exercises in front of the tv. But it’s summer and we’re not closing the day in front of the tube. Not bad in any respect, need to move those exercises because still need them…

How is your training going?
