MapMyRun.com summary for weekending August 31

Last week was an OK week, lower running. Am focusing on building strength. Why? Because I know I need it and because I want to stay healthy for the half. At this point, I’m feeling good about finishing. Now it’s about what is reasonable for maintaining a level of fitness. What’s doable with our lifestyle or what needs to change.

Back to the long run on Saturday. Did another run where I stopped at home for a potty break at 7.5 miles. It was a decent run for a humid day. The last mile (or just short of a mile because I miscalculated and half miles aren’t reported on mapmyrun.com) was another negotiation. For the half, the adrenaline will carry me the last couple miles. We hadn’t made many plans for the long weekend… the long runs are OK to run, but it’s afterward that’s harder. They wipe me out (Porter too). We had a very quiet Saturday.

Felt good on Sunday. Little sore… nothing a little stretching didn’t take care of. A day of yard work and shopping while Porter brewed.

Monday was a great day of kayaking on the Buffalo River. Will post on that later in the week.

How is your training going?
