Trooper Brinkerhoff 10K is on the books for my first 10K.
Oh My Gosh… I. Did. It! Major.
First, this was a fantastic run for my first. Porter, Youngest & I ran it. Youngest actually run it with me. I was honored. Must admit that we do run well together, at least we keep each other moving!
The course was a hilly Boston, NY run. It was a little painful at times, to be sure. We’re not used to running hills, so it was good training. I can say that now… The really hard part was the route was two loops around the 5K course. That means we knew what to expect… for good & bad. There were some hill areas that we could plan ahead for and a hot, sunny finish that just was what it was. Again, it was a nice course and I look forward to running again.
Because there were many law enforcement professionals participating, it was probably the safest morning ever.
The party was just what we like, they had really good pizza, dogs & sausage with lots of water and beer.
Porter even placed in his age group… whoo hoot. I added that kick to pass a runner ahead of me a couple hundred feet before the finish. Turns out, she was indeed in my age group. Some days are just more competitive than others (I also had way more in my tank than I expected). Thanks Coach Diggins for the “take that next guy” must do!
It’s on the books… Mighty Niagara Half Marathon you’re next!
