Hey, Happy Monday!
Hope your week is off to a great start!
It’s been a busy couple months and we’re working hard to be prepped for the Boilermaker 15K next month. It’ll be a stretch for me but… stretch goals...
Four miles on the bike path Saturday morning looks a little red (and why did I take my hat off)? My breathing needs some serious help but… one step at a time. Coming back to running after an injury is a challenge. Things that used to be easy just aren’t. I have to be extra gentle on myself, keep my goals reasonable and have fun. Right now besides my breathing, I’m sloooow as molasses.
That’s A-ok. Starting and finishing is where it’s at. It’s been about 8 months since I’ve run 4 miles. Small victories. It felt good. Eldest always says that the first 2 miles are the hardest. Just have to push…
My foot is still having a little pain and my buddy Morton is still hanging out on my foot (Morton’s neuroma started last fall). The thing is, for me, my neuroma pad and more activity seems to be just what Morton is most happy with.
Everyone is different… After a visit to the orthopedist, a shot, not running, blah, blah, blah… it seems the more I do (within reason) the happier it is …and as long as my shoe choice is reasonable and the anti-inflammatories are still in the mix we’ll just keep it rolling.
So bring on the ice… And why can’t someone make a silicone neuroma pad? Let me know if you find one.
Strength & biking Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
We met a new group of running friends last Wednesday. Nice that Porter & I can run at the same time. Like anything new, we’ll work out the logistics of walking to warm up and how to squeeze in food. It’ll work. …and it’ll keep us getting out the door. Three miles on the books
Sunday was about 24 miles of bike riding, and some walking around the festival we rode to. It was the perfect day for it too!
Goal is to keep it active. Check!
