Have you ever tried juicing?
About two years ago we watched the documentary “Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead.” The short version is that it’s a documentary about Aussie Joe Cross’s juice fast trek across the US. He started overweight with medical issues and successfully juiced across the US losing much of himself and juicing his way to health in 60 days. While it was an extreme journey, my take away was weight gain is as dangerous as any disease and eating more fruits & veges is important.
Not a major revelation nor rocket science.
Here’s my challenge… With the life I live, way I eat and choices I make – it’s really hard to eat all the veges I should. So our kitchen appliances made a new friend, a Breville juicer.
At first, my relationship with our new friend was intense. Juicing was a part of each morning and I felt the difference. It’s probably a vitamin deficiency or sensitivity – Porter doesn’t notice a difference, but I do. With time our relationship waned. We worked into a monthly routine. I buy the ingredients about once a month and juice until they’re gone. It works for me.
I’m going to extend it for a bit while my foot is healing. Who knows, it may be in my head, it may boost my immune system but I’ll take any little help I can get.
A friend also suggested a healing herb, Solomon’s Seal, that I’m going to try. Hey… no harm, no foul. I’m open to trying most anything (with no major downside).
My healing breakfast was kale, spinach, carrots, celery, cucumber, apples & ginger. That & some coffee kickstarted the day.
How did you start your day?
