So when I was having all those crazy migraines, a friend and co-worker suggested that I try juicing. Boy… I wasn’t ready for that suggestion. Talk about slamming the door. I had two kids, a house, a job, a dog, husband, PTA, Soccer… So the list goes on… Just really wasn’t ready to add one more item to the list. My Loss…
We b0ught a Breville Juicer and got down to it. Thankfully, I’ve given up some of my perfectionist tendencies (maybe one of the reasons I just couldn’t wrap my arms around this years ago) and had hubby pick up the first round of veggies at the local grocery store. After some web searches, found a couple recipes that we used as a guide and got rolling. Under full disclosure.. I also did some internet reading on general juicing and would recommend this. The tips about adding green leafy veges slowly we especially paid attention to. Although we “try” to eat well, I was admittedly concerned about adding all these veges to my diet and its impact on my digestive system :).
Our entry was with one to two juice sessions a day. Usually one session replaced my usual breakfast. One morning, running a little late decided to try it anyways and was finished cleaning up in 10 minutes flat… pretty impressive if I do say so myself…
After juicing for 6 days I have more energy than I’ve had in years. So much so that I’ve cut my coffee back because I am literally pumped. hubby claims no impact, but has been up earlier than normal for the past couple days. I have no problem falling asleep at night and sleeping, but need about an hour less than usual (or maybe it’s just hubby waking up that has me earlier in the morning). Intestinally, which was one on my concerns (really can you have a normal schedule or is this a vacation thing???), no problems.
So progress is good so far. I get bored easy and haven’t yet. The energy boost on it’s own is enough to keep me motivated, well at least for now.
