With the help of my son and husband, I red-faced reached that goal of running my first 5K in about 4 1/2 years. Whoo hoo!!
It. was. sweet!
Rounding the 2nd mile, my son (who had finished the race), joined me for the last mile. What a fantastic feeling dream. I couldn’t have scripted it better! A Division 1 runner, my pace was tough for him. He’s been jabbing me that my training isn’t challenging enough and he’s probably right. Evolving my running injury free was/is more important to me than meeting any schedule – his competitive 21 year old brain has a tough time with that. I understand.
Back to the run… So I got to run the last mile, the hardest, with my own personal escort. 🙂 He had me running faster than I would have otherwise and helped me to manage my crazy breathing. I probably wasn’t quite ready for this run, but it was perfect.
I.did.it! We.did.it!
Next…
It’s funny the possibilities that are now on my radar.
Enough about me… How are you doing on your goals?
