Today… and most days… I am thankful for my partner. (Yup, there are days that I’d like to send him to the moon.)
Being married takes work and some luck. Thank you, thank you we’ve been recipients of each!
We met at out first job our of college. It was a chaotic time for a variety of reasons, but this guy was the one! Smart, handsome, sexy, athletic, grounded (not in that order :)).
Through our married life, we’ve had peaks and valleys. Thankfully more peaks than valleys. One thing I come back to is that we’re committed to each other and to helping each other do what we want to do in life.
We’re so lucky that we share a desire to have fun and that we define fun similarly. Not always, but much of the time. We enjoy being together and have worked to find things that we can enjoy doing together.
Over the past couple years, we’ve watched families split as kids grew and forged their paths in life. When you reach the point that should be celebration, instead it’s chaos, it stinks to watch much less endure. We’ve worked hard to keep things fresh, to keep things moving, to enjoy that day when you’re sitting in a room staring at each other :). To not let anything get in the way and to not let us grow (too far) apart.
Today I’m thankful for my life partner, the father of my children, my training partner, my friend. The person who thankfully agreed to (yet another of… ) my crazy idea to run a half marathon.
What’s your TGIF?
