Timing is Everything…

Yikes, timing truly is everything, isn’t it? A couple days after we started juicing, it was time to be tortured by my primary doc, oh sorry… annual physical. We’re about half through the visit when my doc explains that last year my cholesterol was elevated and thyroid levels close to elevated. So my first (internal… I am getting better at self control) response was to scream “Why wasn’t I told if there was something outside of normal?” and then “do I need a new doc”  then “I should have called.” My actual answer was far more polite… So am still considering the new doc issue, but have a new motivation for sticking with this lifestyle addition.

I should have known something was up, have been careless about eating from Thanksgiving on and have added about five pounds, mid-belly. Since I’ve thankfully never weighed this much, thought it was just a lack of movement and too much of a good thing. Maybe it was something else entirely… So, think the first course of action is to lose some of this weight. It’s been years since I’ve actively tried to lose weight… Send me positive thoughts, positive energy, prayers.

Tracking the process may give me motivation, at least I’m hoping. For years it has been easy to watch others put on a few pounds and then receive word of some medical issue. It’s made me wonder is it a chicken and egg issue? Namely did the weight cause the medical or vice-versa. Here’s my chance to put my proverbial money where my mouth is (or at least action). So the premise is that if I lose 5-10% of my weight and eat smart, the health issues may resolve. No drastic life changes to achieve this – more exercise and eating smarter.

So, timing is everything…  Now we’re off and running…
