Back to training updates. Guess that means there is training going on…
We keep scheduling runs with a great group of running friends, one a month. You can only show up for 5Ks for so long before you lose all the half training you’ve built up. Oops…
I Googled some Couch to 5K programs, but really know that I’m beyond that. Guess I was just looking for a concrete, easy to follow plan that would get me in shape again without too much pain.
It’s much easier to print something out, post it on the fridge and build it into the schedule.
Then I opened Galloway’s Book on Running.
Picked a 5K training program and am going to try the 25 minute 5K training program. I like his programs because it’s three days of running with cross training. For me, the cross is the key. It’s about building the rest of my body so I’m strong enough to run the distance I want as fast as I want. Probably the other key is to start some speed training. Not sure how that’s going to go, but I’m game to finally try.
Like anything, the program needs a little tweaking. We’ve been in a Tues/Thurs/Sat &/or Sun schedule for the past couple years. I’m trying to run with our local Luna Chix group – that means switching it up to Mondays.
