Still tetter-tottering with vacation time. Hope your July 4th weekend was fantastic! This week we got out on the kayaks not once, but twice! It was a great week. Our trip to 18 Mile Creek was a nice one, I highly recommend it.

This past week was a great one. Some of kayaking, running and working around the house… with some dinners and concerts out. This morning I am feeling it though. Actually yesterday was tough but I plowed through it. Yes and there was some amount of moaning & whining. My body is trying slowly getting used to adding some kayaking to the plan. If only some fairies would arrive at our house for the next two months to take over the house work!
The run yesterday was harder than I expected. It’s been quite some time since my body ached as it did Saturday night and Sunday. Even some Aleve didn’t kick it. That and the hot tub definitely improved it. I didn’t feel injured, just over used… so kept to the plan. After the first mile, things started loosening. By mile two I was happy to be almost done!
This winter was bitter cold in our part of the country, it wreaked havoc on our bushes & trees. We lost two Ash trees and took another that I’ve been worrying would fall on our house. It was a healthy maple, but top heavy. Just had to go. While Porter & Youngest got out the chainsaw to take care of that, I hit our cars. They are spiffy!
While we’re achieving the goal of being more active and bumping it up along with the running and yoga, by 9pm I’m toast. I’d love to say that it was better this week, but not really :). Thankfully, no three day weekends for a little bit…. Did I just type that? Yes, yes I did :).
Remember, baby steps!
This week’s long run was a personal victory for me. I reached 8 miles healthy!! (Strike up the band, fireworks and all that jazz…) While my body was sore and complaining, it was from being used. It was that “good” discomfort. Keeping my fingers crossed and my body moving. The plan is to run at 8 again this long run then bump it up to 9.
