Do you remember your first apartment? I will never forget mine.
We haven’t talked much about our empty nest recently. It was really hard at first… just because it was change. And we embraced being parents. Porter was the Boy Scout Leader, soccer coach, etc. It was important to be involved and it was FUN!
We’ve made the changes and are now busy with our “things” again. Well, we are busy with things. Life is full and it is good.
I feel somehow final in our “empty nest” as Youngest moved into his law school apartment this past weekend.
My first apartment was so cool. It was small and old and in the city and… it was awesome! It was tiny, with no parking and… did I mention… it was awesome. Things weren’t perfect but it was… not my parents. There were my rules. It was so darn cool.
Since this is my blog, I’m feeling perfectly fine gushing about life… Prepare for gushing…
Youngest is starting law school in a couple weeks. Life takes us many different places, he did a great job in doing what it took to get a FULL SCHOLARSHIP to law school…. can I say that one more time… someone is paying him to be a law student. They (as do we) think he is totally awesome and want him to be an alumni of their law school. In the city he wants to be in. What more can you ask for. He (and we) are so totally psyched. It doesn’t matter where life goes from here (well, it does) but this is an awesome place to be.
Youngest (and eldest) have these neat apartments. Life in the city works for them both right now.
It was bittersweet moving youngest in. I loved having him home this summer. He was busy with work and life but in between we were able to have a bit of fun and spend a bit of time. Feeling so blessed we could share that.
So he’s moved into an apartment in the city not far from school. It’s an old building, actually on the National Register of Historic Places and as first apartments go… it’s not perfect but it’s his! Such an exciting time. He will tell stories and I can’t wait to hear them.
Do you remember your first apartment?
Any advice for Youngest on his first apartment?
