Where I Stand Monday

Today is a good day, after a good weekend.

Exercise

The past couple days we’ve been doing pretty well. Keeping to Friday swimming, a Saturday long run – 5 mi and swimming, Sunday – short run to “just stretch the legs out.”

The Saturday long run was tough. Not so much the run itself, the day that followed. Even though we started early (~7am), it was hot & humid. I didn’t feel well before heading out and was a little dehydrated. Maybe that’s why? But convinced myself to start at least and then to keep going and then to finish pretty well… if I do say so myself. About 2/3 the way, I was thirsty and definitely looking for that cool bottle of H2O waiting in the mailbox. Was prepped for a mid-afternoon nap that didn’t quite work out. Boy, I really needed that nap. Apologies to those around me. Oh well, sometimes the day takes on a life of its own.

Staying hydrated is an issue with the humidity we’ve experienced lately. Sunday we ran at 9am. It was simply too late. Even thought it was a short run, it was draining. So glad we did it, just need to start earlier next time. Tuesday is the next running day so will start early since it’s going to be a 90’s w/crazy humidity day.

Eating

This weekend was good and bad. We ate out Friday eve at a place on the river we are growing to LOVE! Portabella mushroom wrap – not a bad choice but will order the mayo on the side next time. That mayo was so good, it must have been bad! Saturday was good eats – lots of vegetables, protein after a trip to the local Farmer’s Market. Sunday we tried a recipe (that needs work) for Stuffed Hungarian Peppers because some ripened in the garden. It was pretty rich and turned out to be dinner. The good news is we used fresh hot Italian chicken sausage from our favorite sausage man at the market. Not enough cheese for Porter’s liking, I thought it could use a little more too. We’ll try again when the next batch ripens and share the recipe when it reaches a good point. Whoo… the peppers were certainly hot, a good garden this year.

Haven’t juiced in a couple weeks again so with the ripening of some cukes in the garden, will start again this week.

We’re trying to balance life changes, not just a diet. Overall we’re doing OK. Getting better at having a diet lower in carbs and higher in vegetables. But oh I do love those potatoes & a good bit of bread! Keep trying to make good choices, some days are so hard.

Results

Whoo hoo… My weight is falling. Not much, but consistent. Waffling now between 155 – 157. Nice to see a positive trend. It’s motivating and feels good. My wardrobe still fits, a more comfortable fit. Definitely have some nice muscles going and justify the lack of weight loss with the buildup of muscle… it does weigh more than fat! 🙂  So am motivated to keep plugging along.

Just . Feeling . Good

How is your process going?
